User Tests of the Garden
20th June at FH Aachen
The locally hosted web page was tested on a laptop with a mouse. The testers were asked to speak their thoughts out loud.
The navigation and structuring was a big problem for the users. They did not understand what "Ordered Lists" and "Tags" are supposed to be. The "Sections" part was also hard for them to get trough. After a bit of clicking through content they got lost. They were looking for a visual help, were they are at in the navigation. The bars left and right were a bit confusing but solved their purpose of opening and closing modules.

Conclusions of this testing were:
- The naming of modules is misleading
- Content is kind of hidden behind a nested menu - we don't want menu diving
- Colors did not help at all
- The left arrow pointed onto modules, but it was supposed to say "go back"
- Tags were not recognized as categories
- There is too much focus on more unrelevant things like the "Sections"
- Relations between content and navigation were not understood
- The tested geometric Display Font "Algeria Remix" looks too unsettled
Next Steps
- Find a new Display font
- New navigation layout
- Simplify the overall User Experience
